Educating people

Submission: I follow a few different activist blogs regarding feminism, ableism and sexwork. As always people troll these blogs and the people or person running don’t put up with it. And then a follower will say no one should be mean to trolls and that they just need to be educated on the topic.

No. Some people PICK to be ignorant about respecting the rights of other people. At a certain point there needs to be accountability NOT education. I wish more people would address this rude behavior.

At what point do we realize, this person is not going to understand because they do not want to. We’re all people, it’s not that hard to be respectful, and if you don’t give it, you shouldn’t get the respect of being educated.

Before anyone complains that he’s “just joking” and saying he is a potential rapist is too harsh… If people don’t want to be labeled a potential rapist, it’s quite simple: don’t say rapey shit that makes you sound like a potential rapist.

He has the right to make this “joke”, just as we have the right to label him a potential rapist as a result. It goes both ways.
